If you don't have any function for your DISH remote, it may need to be replaced. Do you have fresh batteries in the remote (batteries should face the same direction)? Does any button light up at the top of the remote when any button is pushed? These are common things to check. As I mentioned before, it may need to be replaced.
Mine did this- repair man says it was the capacitor in the power supply. He replaced it and it worked for 24 hours and blew again.
