Well, humans don't have egg sacs, just eggs with no extra frills. Generally, when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus it remains there for about nine months and then birth happens. If something goes wrong there will be a miscarriage and the egg (or fetus depending on stage of pregnancy) will be rejected by the body or it will die on it's own. If the egg is unfertilized it will not implant. Sounds like your granddaughter either had a spontaneous miscarriage that was suspicious, had an abortion and doesn't want to tell you or did not have an egg involved but did have suspicious bleeding. A DandC (Dialation and Curette) is a procedure where they dialate the cervix and insert a curette into the uterus to biopsy the uterine lining. They do this to check for abnormal growths, infections, etc. It is most frequently done if there are abnormally heavy periods or bleeding between periods. The uterine lining sheds naturally with every period and grows back, so nothing permanent is lost during this simple procedure.
