You maybe have turned on the power saving plan in the power option menu, making your processor owrk slower. Put it back to normal:

=== on Vista and XP
=== 1. Click the Windows menu. 2. Click on control panel.
3. If you control panel is in classic view, click on Power Options; if it's on Control Panel Home view, click on System and Maintenance, then on Power Options.
4. Choose either "Balance" or "High Performance".

The "Balance" plan enable your processor to work at 5% till 100% of its maximum speed.
The "High Performance" plan assure you that your processor works at 100% of its maximum speed.

Q: Your laptop is running an AMD Turion 64 ML-30 which should be 1.6Ghz however the system properties displays 797Mhz any ideas why?
