Go to your local Immigration office as soon as possible.

Don't go to to immigration office, your wife will be deported due to out of status already. Instead file her papers to legalize her stay (I-485,I-130,I-765, etc.) Goodluck and Godbless.

What was the process of becoming an American citizen?

In order to become an American citizen, a person should first become 18 yrs old. Next is becoming a legal permanent resident - getting a green card. He/ she has to then maintain the required continuous residency status and permanent residency status. Becoming a US citizen is not a one-day process but a lengthy one.

Can you apply for citizen ship with an expired green card?

yes in 10 years No,you need to file Form I-90 first for green card renewal else you would be considered 'out of status' though permanent residency is valid and permanent. To apply for US citizenship your green card should have at least 6 months of validity left. This is also important if you plan to travel abroad or in case you need to prove identity for any purpose. Its important to carry a valid green card always else you will be fined or even jailed.

If you are in the US on a student visa and have a same-sex marriage will you be able to stay after you leave school?

Each situation is unique and you should consult an attorney. However, for purposes of US immigration law, there is no longer any distinction between same-sex and opposite-sex marriage beginning June 26, 2013. Therefore, it should be possible for a same-sex spouse who is an American citizen to sponsor the foreigner for permanent residency.

Can housing be a cause for denial of us citizenship?

Proof for residency requirement is a requirement when applying for US citizenship. Minimum for 3 months you should have stayed at the location before which you are applying for citizenship. As a permanent resident you have the option to preserve your residency though for employment requirements you are outside US for more than a year using the N-470 form. The continuous physical residency in the US is preserved this way and helps you for naturalization process.

Should the immigrants be given lesser privileges in the US?

No. That would be discrimination, which is very much unconstitutional. A citizen is a citizen regardless of where they were born, and anyone who is entitled to live there (permanent residency) is implicitly awarded the same rights as anyone else.

Expired medicines should ALWAYS be thrown out. They are relatively inexpensive to replace and not worth the risk of taking an expired medication.
