Answer
To beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Firered (for the first time), you need to use a combination of strength and strategy with your Pokemon. To give you an idea of what your going up against, here are the trainers and their Pokemon:
First up Lorelei and her Ice-type Pokemon:
Dewgong (Water/Ice) level 52, Slowbro (Water/Psychic) level 52, Lapras (Water/Ice) level 54 and Jynx (Ice/Psychic) level 54.
Ice-type Pokemon are generaly weak against Fire and Fighting types but Rock and Steel-type moves do just as well. But since Lorelei uses duel types, don't limit yourself to just a Fire-type - back it up with an Electric type.
Second in line is Bruno and his Fighting Pokemon:
Onix (Rock/Ground) level 51, Hitmonchan (Fighting) level 53, Machamp (Fighting) level 56, Hitmonlee (Fighting) level 53 and Onix (Rock/Ground) level 54.
Fighting-type Pokemon are weak against Flying-types but these Pokemon hit back hard with Thunder Puch and Rock Slide - be careful! Instead, try using a Psychic-type Pokemon and back it up with a Water-type for Bruno's Onix.
Thirdly, it's Agatha and her Ghosts:
Gengar (Ghost/Poison) level 54, Golbat (Flying/Poison) level 54, Arbok (Poison) level 56, Gengar (Ghost/Poison) level 58 and Haunter (Ghost/Poison) level 53.
Dark-type Pokemon are great against Ghost-types but be aware that Normal and Fighting-type moves have no effect on them. You could have a Normal-Type Pokemon as backup; they can learn some Ghost-type moves (super effective) and Ghost-type moves can't hit them!
And the last Elite Four - Lance and his Dragons:
Gyarados (Water/Flying) level 56, Aerodactyl (Rock/Flying), Dragonair (Dragon) level 54, Dragonair (Dragon) level 54 and Dragonite (Dragon/Flying) level 60.
The best way to go would be with an Ice-type Pokemon backed up with a Water and/or Electric-type for those other duel type Pokemon. Lance is pretty tough, but with good strategy, you should be able to beat him.
And finaly, the Champion (insert name here) and his mixed Pokemon types:
(If you chose Squirtle) Pidgeot (Flying/Normal) level 59, Rhydon (Ground/Rock) level 59, Venusaur (Grass/Poison) level 63, Gyarados (Water/Flying) level 59, Alakazam (Psychic) level 57 and Arcanine (Fire) level 61.
(If you chose Bulbasaur) Pidgeot (Flying/Normal) level 61, Alakazam (Psychic) level 59, Rhydon (Ground/Rock) level 61, Gyarados (Water/Flying) level 63, Exeggutor (Grass/Psychic) level 61, Charizard (Fire/Flying) level 65.
(If you chose Charmander) Pidgeot (Flying/Normal) level 61, Alakazam (Psychic) level 59, Rhydon (Ground/Rock) level 61, Arcanine (Fire) level 61, Exeggutor (Grass/Psychic) level 63, Blastoise (Water) level 65.
You'll have to go all-out against this opponent and use type advantage to win. Use an Electric Pokemon for Gyarados and Pidgeot; use a Water Pokemon for Rhydon and Arcanine; use a Dark or Ghost Pokemon for Alakazam and a Fire Pokemon for Venusaur. Of course, the Champion's Pokemon depends on your starter, so keep that in mind if you want to start over again.
Good luck beating the Elite Four - but remember that on the second time onwards, they'll have slightly different Pokemon...
