Can you stop your periods temporarily?

I would not advise you to do so without input from your health care provider. Some birth control medications will do that, and the results vary from person to person. Trauma, lean diet, long hours of hard work, stress, pregnancy and lactation may also temporarily halt your cycle...but none of these should be attempted just to stop your cycle!

Yes. If you are not on Birth Control and plan on going away, ask your doctor for a pack of pills.. if you know you gonna get your period, take the pills few days before it will stop it... when you leave your vacation, stop... and few days your period will come.

Periods are regulated by hormones in your body. They will continue to regulate and cause your periods, unless they are altered. Birth control can stop your periods. If the non-active pills at the end of your pack are skipped, and a new pack is started, the period will be skipped. Pregnancy will also cause your period to stop.

Please see your doctor before attempting to alter your cycle in any way. Some birth control on the market today is designed to help you have fewer periods which could be an option if this is what you are looking for.

Stress, dieting, exercise, weight loss, illness. Some hormonal forms of BC can also stop you from having a period.

If you are sexually active and your period is more than two weeks late, to be safe take a HPT.
