An effective method of eradicating scale is to thoroughly spray the plant with a solution of 1 part rubbing alcohol, 5-8 parts water, and a squirt of dish soap. Thoroughness is key. Repeat the treatment as necessary.

Recently I was told to use a solution of the 1 table spoon of NSP ll-purpose concentrated cleaner in a pint of water. It's biodegradable chemical-free formula is safe to use even on babies. l I sprayed the plant thoroughly, making sure to cover both sides of the leaves as well as the stalk. It seems to have done the job! The stickiness is gone. I looked at the reverse side of the leaves and the colony of scales there became dark brown and lifeless.
Burning is a good technique, it helped me get rid of the air plants on my shrub.
Try dapping Methylated spirit onto the scale insect direct with a cotton bud.
