Reno, NV, located in the southwest corner of Nevada, sits in a valley of the Sierra Nevada desert. The population is approximately 220,000, making Reno the fourth largest city in Nevada.

Reno's catchphrase is The Biggest Little City in the World. Reno is most renowned for the casinos and gambling opportunities that are abundant in the city, but many other attractions exist as well. As a fun fact, most Reno residents refer to themselves as Reno-ites.

The first residents of the Reno area are suspected to be prehistoric Martis people. In a more modern time, most settlers of Reno arrived to mine gold and silver in the 1800's. In 1931, Nevada did two things that created a huge boom in Reno's attractions. First, the state legalized casino gambling, creating a large network of casinos in Reno. Second, divorce laws were liberalized, creating a tourist boom.

Getting the obvious out of the way first, Reno has many casinos that are worth visiting. The most popular casino in Reno, Circus Circus Hotel Casino, gives visitors an extra benefit of circus performance acts daily from 11:15am to midnight. The Grand Sierra Resort, Peppermill Resort Casino, Silver Legacy Casino, and Harrah's Reno Hotel are also must see casinos in Reno.

Visitors looking to get a good view of the whole city, while enjoying a great park for biking, walking, running, and horseback riding, should visit Bartley Ranch Park. The old old Huffaker School is a great attraction for visitors who enjoy history, since this school dates back to the mid-1800's. Another popular Reno park is the Rancho San Rafael Park. The park offers trails, picnic tables, and more, but the park also has two rare attractions inside. Wilbur D. May Museum and Arboretum and the Great Basin Adventure Amusement Park are both located on park grounds and are must see attractions when visiting Reno.

Families will appreciate the Great Basin Adventure park. Kids can climb dinosaurs located on the park, pet animals at the petting zoo, get a little wet on the log ride, and pan for gold in the makeshift gold mines.

For visitors interested in history, the National Automobile Museum is a great find. The 100,000 square foot museum is home to many classic cars. One of the best parts of this museum is the setting around each car. The museum has worked very hard to provide real life settings dependent on the age of the car that can range from old signs to real gas pumps from the era.

Reno visitors are never left wondering what to do due to Reno's many offerings for all types of people. Enjoy the biggest little city in the world!
