Stir dry ingredients together in a bowl and add to mixer alternately with milk, starting with the flour and ending with the flour. Mix in vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

The ingredients that you would need would be: three cups of granulated sugar, ½ pound butter, ½ cup shortening, five eggs, ¼ teaspoon salt, three cups flour, ¾ cups evaporated milk, ¼ cup water and two teaspoons almond extract.

Once all things are ready, we start by creaming butter, sugar and shortening in a bowl. Next, beat the eggs well and add in bowl. Add salt to it and mix it well. Put all remaaining ingredients in the bowl. Grease a baking pan and transfer the batter in the pan. Next, preheat the oven to 320 degrees F. Place the pan inside the oven and bake for an hour and 30 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven and cool for 20 minutes. Once done, you can serve it immediately.

Preaheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 6-cup loaf pan and set aside.

Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one by one and beat well after each egg. Add vanilla and salt. With mixer on low, gradually add flour, beat until combined.

Bake about 1 hour (add aluminum foil if browning too speedily) Let cool in pan 15 minutes. Add to a wire rack and turn upright to cool completely.
