Add Related Links

The Add related links feature is used to add a link to a website relating to a specific question or answer.

Sometimes these links get abused by spammers and vandals. If you see a commercial link that doesn't genuinely help answer the question, please remove it.

To add a Related Link:

  1. Copy the URL of the website you would like to add as a Related Link.
  2. Go to the WikiAnswers question page related to the link.
  3. Click Add related links under Question Tools in the Tools menu.
  4. In the appropriate line, enter the name of the website you are linking the question to.
  5. Paste the link you have copied into the appropriate line.
  6. Click the Add Link button.
  7. Repeat these steps if you wish to add more links to the question.

Note: If there is already a list of Related Links below a question, you can click Edit in the Related Links section in order to add or edit links.

When you are editing questions and answers, it is a good idea to check the Related Links.

  2. If a link is broken or the website does not relate to the question, go back to the question page.
  3. Click on Add related links in the sidebar or Edit in the Related Links section.
  4. Under Current Related Link List, click Remove beside the link you wish to remove.

Linking Guidelines

Related links are an important element of any comprehensive answer and the appropriate steps must be taken to prevent the misuse of this linking privilege. Included below are the basic guidelines for proper usage.

  • Links must be as relevant to the answer as possible. For example, instead of linking to a blog's homepage, provide a link to a specific blog article featuring helpful information which supplements the answer.
  • A URL linked from more than a few answers is subject to removal. This indicates the link is too general and a page more relevant to the subject matter of the question should be used.
  • URLs must be included as "Related Links" and not inserted into the body of the answer.

Repeated violation of this policy is grounds for limiting a member's website privileges.
