The lady had many problems in her long life and reign. I'm sure I don't know them all but I can list a few and others can add on.

While she was still an infant her father King Henry VIII divorced her mother and then had her beheaded for invented crimes of whoredom. Probably she wasn't too stressed by this as she was so young and unaware.

She was raised a protestant which became a serious problem when her sister Mary (bloody Mary) can to power and started beheading, burning, and drawing and quartering protestants. She faked a conversion to catholism to escape the ax.

There were assasination attempts on her life.

She turned out to be barren, which was a big deal for her.

She had to execute her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, something that kind of upset her.

She had a whole bunch of suiter trying to get her to marry them. (poor girl)

King Phillip of Spain launched the Spanish Armada to invade England. (Payback for her refusing to marry him)

She got smallpox and was very sick.

I dont think that these are problems what the questioner was asking about. her problems were, religion, marriage, Spanish armada and Mary Queen of Scots.

I think that Elizabeth saw the basis of her country's problem as religion.

There were three groups of competing Christians all struggling to achieve dominance and these sought alliances with other groups to achieve their aims.

The main group, by far the biggest were the Anglicans. Trouble was the Gentry wanted to protect their ill gotten gains from the last two reigns.

Next were the Romanists, Catholics who had a Donatist attitude and sought to change monarch, because Eliza didn't suit them.

Then the protestants, chiefly Calvinists who sought to eradicate both Roman and Anglican.

These were the groups and Elizabeth had to play the Romans and the Calvinists against one another, whilst buying off the gentry and nobility with Church money, much to the distress of the Anglicans, whose money it was!

The real trouble was that the Romans were encouraged by the late council at Trent, which had given them an enormous fillip and put the fear of heaven in the other two groups. But their enormous support from foreign monarchs, especially Spain and Rome, frightened a lot of their support off!

The Calvinists were refused permission to do anything more than threaten or grumble, because wisely Elizabeth said clearly and firmly, Religion is the province of the Bishops. [Anglican']

Elizabeth kept the top rolling, it came down with the attack on poor Charles Stuart in the religious war of 1642.
