β 11y agoGrapes have too much sugar, calcium, and phosphorus for a dog's diet. So they should not be fed raisins or grapes on a regular basis. Some dogs reported food Allergies or other bad reactions to grapes, or to common chemicals used to treat grapes.

β 7y agoAbsolutely not!! Grapes as well as raisins can be poisonous to some breeds and are indigestible to all dogs - contact your vet in cases where your dog ingests any of the above.
NB: NO dog's stomach has the ability to digest chocolate or onions, and many plants that may not be harmful to humans may harm your dog - you can look up on the internet with regards to the plants in your home - it pays well to know your home is safe

The truth though is that this occurs only in high volumesm. There is no clear evidence as to what the toxin is.

β 14y agoDogs and many other canines eat grapes when they are in season. The grape scare stems from raisin toxicity by a few small (glutinous) pets who have eaten pounds of raisins while their owners we not keeping watch on them. Overeating anything can cause toxicity/digestive problems. Wild animals eat grapes and wolves/coyotes in turn eat those Bunnies, gophers and even skunks (with the grapes in their stomachs) Coyotes can be seen eating wild grapes off the vine along country roads on warm fall evenings.
While renal failure is possible from large amounts it is not known whether it is from the fruit or the chemicals on the fruit or even a fungus. Don't panic if your dog eats a grape or two.

Do not ever give dogs grapes. Not even one. Grapes have been linked to kidney failure in dogs. No one is quite sure why this happens. If you're concerned because your dog has already eaten one grape... the good news is that he or she will probably be fine; the estimated toxic dose is about 30 grams (an ounce, approximately) per kg body weight. However, that's an estimate, and it's possible that some dogs may be more sensitive than others (or that some kinds of grapes may be more toxic than others).
