No. You should check the ingredients in the Excedrin Migraine. Two tablets contain 500 mg of aspirin and 500 mg of acetaminophen plus 65 mg of caffeine. You should not take more aspirin. It can cause stomach bleeding. If that dose is ineffective perhaps you should be evaluated by a neurologist and try to find a prescription drug to treat your migraines. There are several extremely ones available.

It is unwise to take Excedrin Migraine (or any Excedrin brand medication) with Tylenol With Codeine.

At the very least, you should be extremely careful about what doses you take.

Excedrin Migraine, or Excedrin Extra Strength, contain three ingredients. Acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin (an NSAID), and caffeine.

Each pill contains 250mg of acetaminophen. The recommended dose is two pills, so 500mg of acetaminophen.

The two Tylenol & Codeine products most often prescribed in the U.S. usually contain 300mg of acetaminophen per pill.

4000mg per 24hrs is the most acetaminophen considered safe to ingest, although studies have indicated that even 3000mg/day, when taken consistently over time, can cause liver damage.

The maximum acetaminophen that was considered safe to take in one dose was 1000mg. However, the FDA has been working to lower dosage regulations for all products which contain acetaminophen/Tylenol, due to the amount of liver injuries or deaths being reported every year. The newer dosages will not have acetaminophen dosages going higher than 500mg.

Adding to this problem is the ingesting caffeine and/or alcohol while ingesting Tylenol, can increase the likelihood of liver damage.

Therefore, read the labels of what medications you are taking.

While it is technically considered "safe" to take two Excedrin (500mg) + 1 Tylenol w/Codeine (300mg), it means you are taking 800mg of Tylenol at one time, as well as ingesting caffeine. Taking this dose every 6hrs means that you are taking 3200mg/day, which will not cause an outright fatal overdose, but over time may cause liver damage.

There other over-the-counter preparations on the market which contain NSAIDS (such as aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen) and have the ability to stop migraine pain in some people, even if "migraine" isn't written on the box.

While Bayer aspirin formulates many different kinds of aspirin, Bayer Back & Body contains aspirin with caffeine, and no acetaminophen. Therefore, you could take a dose of this with your Tylenol with Codeine without posing a risk to your liver. You would be getting all the same ingredients you would be getting from combining Excedrin and Tylenol w/ codeine, but in a safe dose.

You could also take a dose of ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) drink it with soda or coffee, and then take your Tylenol with Codeine.

The important thing is to real ALL medication labels and follow the dosage guidelines. Many medications contain acetaminophen, including cold and allergy medications such as Nyquil and Dimetapp.

**In generic prescription pain medications, acetaminophen is referred to as "APAP" on the bottle.

Can you take a Xanax after excedrin migraine?

In my personal use, if the xanax is taken at the earliest moment of the onset of a migraine, I have been able to control the migraine.

Can migraine relief tablets be taken at the same time as omeprazole?

Yes. Omeprazole (Prilosec) does not interfere with either the triptan medications or over the counter marketed pain relievers such as Excedrin/Excedrin Migraine. In fact, when omeprazole is taken with aspirin (which is found in Excedrin) it has been shown to protect against the potential for creating ulcers.

Can you take tizanidine and excedrin migraine?

Yes. Tizanidine (Zanaflex) is a muscle relaxer. Excedrin Migraine (and regular Excedrin) contain(s) acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, and caffeine. If taken together, Tizanidine will increase the amount of time the acetaminophen takes to work (by about 15 minutes). Otherwise, there aren't any interactions that have been found. Tizanidine does interact with several antibiotics, birth control, certain blood pressure medications (including Verapamil, which can be used as a migraine preventative), cimetidine (Tagamet (an OTC acid reducer), and acyclovir. Always read the full label, and make sure your doctor knows everything you take in a given day, including over the counter medications and supplements.

Can topiramate 50 mg be taken with Tylenol pm?

Can Aleve be taken with tramadol?

It is not a good idea to take an over the counter pain medicine with a prescription pain medicine. The best way would be to ask the doctor who gave you the tramadol prescription whether you can take something over the counter. The prescription drug is stronger than the over the counter drug - you should not need any extra pain relief on top of a prescription.

Can i take excedrin with lorazepam?

You should not be taking Excedrin with Lortab (hydrocodone with acetaminophen), because they both contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). If you do, you need to exercise extreme caution.Taking more than 4000mg of acetaminophen within a 24 hour period can cause liver damage, severe overdoses can cause liver failure. You need to read both the labels on the Excedrin and the Lortab to know exactly how much acetaminophen is in each tablet. There are different types of Excedrin - some which have 250mg of acetaminophen per tablet, some which have 500mg. All hydrocodone formulations marketed under Lortab contain 500mg of acetaminophen per tablet. (Note: Vicodin, Norco, or the generic Hydrocodone/APAP - have other different formulations, some of which are higher than 500mg per pill). If you have taken your Lortab and still need increased pain relief, other OTC medications you can consider are a straight aspirin medication (Like Bayer) or an ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or Naprosyn (Aleve).

What can be used instead of excedrin migraine?

If you are having actual migraines, you can ask your doctor for a prescription. Medications such as Fiorocet are effective for many people with migraines. If they are regular headaches, try regular Excedrin, but drink a soda or cup of coffee. One of the main ingredients in many migraine meds, including Excedrin Migraine, is caffeine. It can help take the edge off of a headache or migraine.

Can taking a nap alleviate the symptoms of a migraine headache?

For me sleeping just helps one escape the migraine pain for the duration of the sleep. Try having caffiene as soon as you feel a migraine coming on. My Dr prescribes me 2xpanadol and 2xibuprofen (Neurofen) taken at once as soon as I feel one coming on and it works pretty well. Alternative View Certainly caffeine works well for some people like the above contributor. Hence the success of Excedrin Migraine. However for me, the only way I can "break" my migraines is if I am able to sleep. I have to take medication prescribed by my neurologist, as neither tylenol (panadol) nor ibuprofen touches my migraines. Hope you find some relief.
