The Holy Bible is quite plain when it comes to the answer as to whether to eat meat or vegetables in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Gen 1:29-30

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Read and understand that God's Word was, is and has always been consistent on the point of whether to eat meat or vegetables. The scriptures has always stated that fruit and vegetables and meat is acceptable with God for man to eat, because it was God who made all things. As stated earlier in:

Rom 14:2-3

2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

And yet again in:

1 Tim 4:3-5

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

The Old and New Testaments agree that both vegetables and meat are to be eaten, and neither of them is better than the other as long as it is sanctified by the Word of God and Prayer.

Another View of the subject matter:

Not all meat that was made for man to partake of was meant to eat. There were specific animals that Yahweh gave for man to be able to eat of, and the requirements were that the beast must have a cloven foot and chew the cud. Swine, although they have a cloven foot, do not chew the cud, therefore are forbidden as food to man (Leviticus 11:7) Whether one chooses to eat meat, or one chooses to eat vegetables, he or she should not be held in contempt, because Yahweh has received him or her. Many people, including I, at one time or another may have read Acts 11:8 regarding the vision Peter had, and have assumed that that passage has negated the Law as God had commanded regarding what we are to partake of. It was not in reference to food, but to people, as Peter clarified in Acts 10:28 how it was against the law for a Jew and a person from another nation to be in the same company (this prohibition seems to appear only in this scripture), but that God personally showed him that he should call no man common or unclean. Neither of these scriptures give any Believer license to eat what God forbade from the beginning when He gave the Law, and as such, that Law has never been abolished, even with the crucifixion of Christ. The Law the Lord gave was His personal laws for His personal people. The law that was abolished was the RELIGIOUS law that was written not for the good of the Jews, but to establish and exercise human control over the people. Jesus was very well aware of these religious laws, and as the Son of the Most High, was above man's law. There were two different types of law; the law of God, which is not hard to follow or to keep, and the law of man, which is oppressive and keeps people in bondage.

Swine eat just about anything put in front of them, which may be why they are forbidden as food. What an animal eats becomes part of that animal. Scavengers feed on dead and dying flesh. We are not to eat them. But cattle, sheep, goats, and any other animal that meets the criteria of the types of meat we can partake of eat of the natural sustenance that God provided for man from the beginning (green leafy things, herbs of the field, etc.), which are good for the human body and provide necessary nutrients to keep us healthy.

In order for us to understand what Yahweh wants for us, we must be willing and able to read and comprehend His written Word, which was given so that we may have life and not death.

The Bible doesn't say you have to eat meat, and it doesn't say you can't meat. They weren't supposed to eat meat that had been sacrificed to pagan gods. When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden they didn't eat meat. God had to show them how to kill an animal to make clothes from the skins, and later Cain and Abel were told to sacrifice a lamb as an offering to God, so I guess that's when they began eating meat. But there aren't any scriptures saying you have to eat meat.

ALSO

Sacrifices were not eaten but burnt as an offering - (Cain / Able above)

After the flood God gave animals to man for food previously men were vegetarians.

Genesis 9:2 All the animals, birds, and fish will live in fear of you. They are all placed under your power.

Gen 9:3 Now you can eat them, as well as green plants; I give them all to you for food.

Genesis 9:4 The one thing you must not eat is meat with blood still in it; I forbid this because the life is in the blood.

The choices is ours because:

1Corinthians 10:25-26 You are free to eat anything sold in the meat market, without asking any questions because of your conscience. For, as the scripture says, "The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord."

It doesn't. Jewish dietary law is mainly in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, and it says that consumption of certain kinds of meat is permitted... it doesn't, however, say it's mandatory.

After the flood God gave animals to man for food previously men were vegetarians.

Gen 9:2 All the animals, birds, and fish will live in fear of you. They are all placed under your power.

Gen 9:3 Now you can eat them, as well as green plants; I give them all to you for food.

Gen 9:4 The one thing you must not eat is meat with blood still in it; I forbid this because the life is in the blood.

(italics mine)

The choices is ours because:

1Co 10:25 You are free to eat anything sold in the meat market, without asking any questions because of your conscience.

1Co 10:26 For, as the scripture says, "The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord."

We're commanded to: "...abstain from meats offered to idols..." (Acts 15:29).

The Bible is clear, elsewhere, that some meat is fit for human consumption... and lists for man which meats these are.

"...These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth." (Lev.11:2)

Plus, there is the "spiritual" aspect of diet that should also be considered by the Christian:

"...make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean.

"If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died... For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,

"because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

"Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.

"It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.

"Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin." (Rom.14:13-23 NIV)

It doesn't. And you can eat meat on Fridays just not in Lent when preparing for Easter celebration. It doesn't say it in the Bible but it is religious custom of Christians to do so during Lent.

dependes wich bible, catholic and christian said yes, Jews said no

that's all who I know

Answer:

Yes... as long as it's processed properly [the blood should be drained], the cow qualifies as one of God's "clean beasts" that are fit for human consumption:

"Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat." (Lev.11:3)

Animals with cloven [split] hooves AND chew cud [BOTH THINGS TOGETHER] are "healthy" to eat.

Meat is allowed during Lent. Meat is not supposed to be eaten on Fridays by human beings aged 14 years of age or older. Jesus Christ, The Savior and Messiah of the world died on a Friday, Good Friday. This is why during Lent, you aren't supposed to eat meat.
