Ice isn't meant to be in a pool pump. this can damage/ruin it. that is why you hear a grinding noise.

Will a salt water pool freeze at the same rate as a regular pool?

salt water does provide a lower degree of freezing temperature but the normal amount in a salt water pool is so low that the answer is "not enough to make a difference". Protect your pool and equipment from freezing as you would if it weren't a salt water pool

Do pool pump make a griding noise when running?

Should you let solar pool run all night in freezing weather?

You need to circulate the pool water in freezing conditions to prevent the pool piping, filter system, etc from freezing and being damaged. If you can bypass the solar system and are assured that ALL the panels and associated piping is drained you will be ok if not run the system, yes you will cool the pool down but will not damage the system

Is it true that an inground pool may 'pop up' out of the ground when drained?

Yes it is true. if you empty a pool and the ground-water level is high enough, the pool turns from being a 'pool', to being a 'boat'. I have personally witnessed the event. A 45ft concrete (gunite) pool while being emptied, with the discharge water being pumped out close to the pool - and whammo!!. It was like the second coming of Christ!. A huge noise, and the pool reared itself out of the ground. We were inside the house and heard the noise and only knew what happened when we looked outside and saw the pool angled out of the ground, 4 ft higher at one end than it started out at.

My pool is beautiful and we enjoy looking at it even if we can't swim in it. Can we leave my pool uncovered for the winter months.?

Do you turn your pump off to the swimming pool if it is freezing outside?

Assuming you live in an area where pools are winterized and shut down for winter, I would run filter for 45min - 1 hour per day. Be carefulk not to over sanitize the pool because chlorine (etc) demand is very low while water is so cold. If you expect to experience freezing weather then do not turn your pump off. LEAVE YOUR PUMP ON. Moving water can not freeze. As water freezes there is expansion. This freezing/expansion can destroy your pump, filter and pipes. Steve Dunn Commercial Pool Systems, Inc.

Application of room noise detector?

A room noise detector could serve as a burglar alarm during the night and when away from home, of course, if no noisy dogs or other pets. It could serve as a child protection device, near a door to the outside of the home or near a swimming pool gate to alert the adults of he child's presence near the pool, or a road with traffic.

You are scheduled to winterize the pool next week but wont use the pool from now on so can you turn off the pool pump now to save on running costs?

Sure you can turn off the pool pump, the water won't be circulating anymore but since you are not using the pool it does not matter. Make sure the outside temperature is above freezing until winterizing because non moving water freezes earlier than moving water. Here is my blog on how I handle my pool: http: //live-efficient-green.blogspot.com/2009/07/pool-with-no-harmfull-chemicals.html

Should a pool gate lock from the inside or outside of the pool area?
