Most birth records list the parents by actual name. In the case of adoption (I was adopted) the adopting father may be listed and the biological father will not be shown, but court records can be searched too.
Information can be found in public records and is accessible via pay-per-use internet databases. Beware of ripoffs however--some pay-per-use databases promise access but list only more pay-per-used databases. Review each thoroughly and contact them via email so you have a verifiable promise of actual depth and scope before you produce money.
A second method via Internet is to look up your family tree. In that, the adoptions may not show as the direct lineage is the factual goal.
Go to the city where you were born and contact the county records office to submit an inquiry. Some searches are free, but most are performed for a nominal fee, usually between $5 and $40. These are public records and open to inquiry by anyone.
Records searching seems to take some effort and determination. Do NOT give up quickly and you will be successful.

When people say generation they are talking about the Foopet's family tree. When you go onto your Foopet's profile, look where it mentions the birthdate of the Foopet. Under that, it may or may not say who the mother and father of the Foopet is. If the mother and father information is not there, your Foopet is a first generation. If there is the mother and father information, you would then click on one of those Foopet's profiles and see if they have a mother/father information. If not your Foopet is second generation, if so then you repeat the same thing with your Foopet's mother's/father's mother/father until you get to the end of it all. Depending on how big the Foopet's family tree is, the bigger it's generation will be. I've seen up to 7th and 8th generation Foopets sooo, yeah.

Prometheus' father is definitely Iapetus. Different records say different things but it is narrowed down to being either Clemyne or Themis being the mother. I'm not sure but you will probably find more things pointing to Themis. It is really what you want to believe i guess at this point but i had to do a report on Prometheus and I said the mother was Themis and i wasn't marked down or anything. Sorry!
