Best Answer

Two. Red Cloud's War and the Vietnam War. However, some consider Red Cloud's War as part of the Indian Wars, which the U.S. won.

EDIT:

the war of 1812 was also a losing war from the beginning and in the end. Barley any military support, 20 naval ships compared to Britain's 1000. America sent

We sent a peace offering to England which was signed as the Treaty of Ghent. It was the first Loss for the US. James Madison was the First sitting president to be in battle under fire. during the battle of Washington (DC), Madison took command of a militia artillery unit. He was forced to retreat with the unit during the battle.

the US began the war under Madison with no gains.

EDIT:

The war of 1812, declared against Britain over various grievances and fought to a draw, strengthened the U.S. was just that a draw.

Vietnam War of course, Korean War was a Stalemate I believe, and that is all I can think of, I don't think we have entered to many wars we couldn't win. that would be stupid. There might be more, but out of all the ones I can remember we were in that is it.

One. It depends on your definition. The US won every battle in Vietnam but lost the war, but in other operations the US has taken a beating but prevailed in the end.
