According to the Associated Content, the Hershey Company has closed down and moved several candy making facilities in the United States and Canada to Mexico. The Hershey Company is the USA's leading candy maker. It is the candy we grew up with and love, and the name Hershey has long been synonymous with chocolate itself in America. Jolly Ranchers and Twizzlers are also made by the Hershey Company.

The work force in the candy manufacturing facilities in Lancaster County and Harrisburg, PA were reduced significantly. The plants in Reading, PA, Connecticut and California were shut down completely, as well as two in Canada.

As of this date, there have been no reports of any issues with lead contamination or other problems with any Hershey products.

  2. West Hershey, PA - a new plant that is currently being tooled.
  3. Lancaster, PA - The primary manufacturing plant for Twizzzlers Twists.
  4. Hazleton, PA - A major production facility where Kit Kat bars, Hershey's Extra Dark, and Cadbury bars are made.
  5. Stuarts Draft, VA - The production facility for Reese's Whipps, Take 5 bars, Reese's Pieces, and Mounds and Almond Joy products are made.

Just some of them: the Drink and Global product lines, as well as some packaging (paper and tin paper wrappings) are made in Mexico, in the town of El Salto (19°45'N 104°01'W), in the state of Jalisco.

I looked all over this Hershey bar and all I could find is "distributed by Hershey Company". It sounds like it came from somewhere else.

AnswerThere was no chocolate in the 16th century. AnswerChocolate was produced in the New World for centuries before it was introduced to Spain in the 16th century. I have been unable to find any description of how it was made in Europe, but it seems to be made today in much the same way the native Americans made it. What is a sweet or chocolate named after a 13th century Mexican?

First, there was no Mexico on the 13th century. The territory now comprising Mexico was not discovered until the 16th century. However, the sweet yo may be refering about is... the chocolate word by itself, as it is of Aztec origin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate). And would come from the words 'Xococ Atl' meaning 'bitter water'.
