The Lindbergh Law was a lay term ( the airman had nothing to do with drafting the ordinance!) appllied to federal anti-kidnapping laws enacted shortly after the tragic Lindbergh kidnap murder in the early thirties. after a sensationally publicized trial, Hauptmann, a German carpenter was executed in the Trenton state prison (Chair) in I believe l936. Much was made of the improvised ladder ( rather fishy for a tradesman carpenter, who would have known the, err, rungs, and the ( ransom Box) it remains a highly controversial crime tale. the Lindbergh laws permitted F.B.I. intervention in all kidnap cases that crossed state lines, or used the postal system for crank-letters or ransom note, etc ( both federal prerogatives) it shoud be noted any crimes involving the postal system-from letter bombs to more mundane cranks and frauds fall under the possible range of operations of the F.B.I.- as the Post Office is a federal service.

It was not meant to be a masterpiece, just a one-time thing. He even dropped a wood chisel at the scene - and his tool set at his apartment was missing that size chisel! Case closed.
