You'll take the General Knowledge portion of the test. If the vehicle you'll be operating has air brakes, you'll have to take that test, as well as perform your road test in a vehicle equipped with air brakes. Then, if you're getting a Class C CDL, then you're either going to be driving a bus under 26k, or a vehicle transporting hazmat. So you'll need to test for that. Hazmat requires fingerprinting and a TSA background check. Passenger requires a road test along with the written test. If it's the school bus endorsement, there's also a background check which goes with that to ensure you're not a kiddie fondler.
