There are several causes for a missed period. Stress seems to be one of the bigger ones. Another could be an infection, and sometimes it just happens with no apparant cause. If it persists or you have pain you should definitely talk to your doctor.
If you are still a virgin and haven't had a guy come near your vagina, then you aren't pregnant. You may need to see a doctor, there could be other problems. I'v heard of a few people who didn't get their period and had to get a some medication to start it up again. I suggest going to your doctor. I don't know of anything that would cause you to skip a period for three months. There are a number of causes of "secondary amenorrhoea", which is what you are describing. It is quite possible that it is due to a hormonal imbalance, and your doctor can easily run blood tests to check for levels of sex hormones (LH, FSH, oestradiol, prolactin and TSH are the normal tests). This imbalance could indicate a problem with the ovaries or with the hormone-producing glands in the brain. There are also simpler causes of not having periods such as not eating properly, excessive excercise (some professional athletes have this problem) and stress. All of these are just as important to address. Without knowing more about you, it is difficult to assess the most likely of these causes. A trip to your doctor is recommended and should definitely give some answers. Hope you get it sorted. Ben One of the reasons of delay in periods can also be PCO syndrome. Polycystic Ovaries syndrome. Please see your doctor immediately for more details. ASAP Same thing happened to me, only for almost a year. I went to see my PCP doc and he told me not to be concerned about it and that "most women would be happy" if they didn't have to "deal" with their period. I did get it again eventually, but it was VERY irregular and sporadic. When I went to an obgyn to get on the pill, she told me that my pcp was essentially stupid. Missing for that long can be a sign of serious health issues, and it can also CAUSE serious helath issues, too. She totally put me on the pill to get me regulated, and I am now. Go see an OB, and ask about progesterone cream, that jump started mine. Good luck! I'm sorry there was no way to comment but what if your still a kid cuz when I had just turned 11 I had gotten my period and they never came back and this summer it's gonna be a year since I talked to my mom about it but she doesn't know cuz hers went straight till her 40's so...
There are several reasons why you might miss a period.
If you have been having sex you could be pregnant. Take a test.
If you are young it may be that your periods have not yet settled into a regular pattern.
If you are older you may be entering the menopause.
Illness may casue you to miss a period, even a bad bout of the flu can do it.
Stress may cause you to miss a period, moving house, going to college, death of a loved one, getting married.
Over-exercising such as training for a marathon may cause you to miss a period.
Rapid weight gain or loss can cause you to miss a period as well.
If there is no apparent reason, you miss another period and you are worried, go to the doctor.
Missing your period can be down to a lot of things.
If you're in your teens irregular cycles are normal as a result of your body developing and hormone imbalance. At any age things such as stress or ill health can delay ovulation and thus delay menstruation. The odd late period is nothing to worry about, but if you go over three months without a period see your doctor to determine the cause and discuss how to fix the problem.
I will go for the pregnancy test. You can be virgin and still get pregnancy due to mutual handling of genitals with your boy friend. I spotted the three months pregnancy of my student this way. If there is no pregnancy, the missing period may be due to psychological stress.
Hormones and/or stress. Going through alot of stress can affect your period.
Pregnancy, stress, malnutrition, obesity, ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalances, heavy smoking, Birth Control and other medications...
And the onset of menopause if you are over 50.
A girl can miss her period randomly if she is a virgin for multiple reasons.
hormones and stress
Hormonal Birth Controls
You dont have to be a virgin or have sex to be on youre period, some girls dont start their periods till the age of 18 maybe higher, just got to be patient and wait for them to start
