Germany is one of the shortest at about 25-30 hours a week. Switzerland averages about 30-35 hours a week. This is changing some in more recent years. I can not say if this is the shortest or not, but it is up there.
Switzerland also gives 6 weeks paid vacation time too. The USA and Japan are the longest work week countries. With 40-60 being average. Plus in the USA most have 1 week, many none of vacation.
Wrong!!! Germany has normally a 35-40 hours a week in full employment! In some jobs even 40-42 hours a week are normal! Don't mix part-time employment with full employment! For example: many mothers try to work part-time when the child/children are in school/kindergarten. As a part-time employee you can have 25 hours a week but it's very unusual for a full-time employee!
LOL! Who did the write the first answer!?! 25-30 hours a week? Please don't spread such wrong answers, it's ridiculous. Germany was until lately world export champion (now it's China) - do you really think they could export so many things when they're only working 5 hours a day!?! As the writer above me already stated: 35-40 hours a week is normal. There are also a lot of jobs with more than 40 hours a week.
