^^to the recent answer. That is rude. Don't answer a question unless you know the answer, or else you look stupid, which you do.

The real answer is: It is never good to do that, The result could be potentially fatal, if they were to eat anything high in carb. If they stayed low carb and on long acting insulin, all would go fine. But if you pig out on candy and sweets, you will get ketones which could potentially travel to the blood, then causing a diabetic coma. Though chances are slim.

If you get diabetes type 1, that means that your pancreas has stopped producing insulin. Insulin is needed to break down food and get the carbs. This causes your blood sugar to rise. There is no cure, but there is a treatment. Diabetics must follow meal plan and take insulin injections to keep their blood sugar down. There can be complications if the blood sugar level is elevated for a long time. Blood curclulation to extremities can deteriorate and limbs may need to be amputated. There is also an increased risk for heart disease. Most people with type 2 diabetes can take pill instead of injections.

Why insulin is used?

Insulin is usually made in your body automatically; diabetes is when your body does not make enough insulin. So some people with diabetes have to take insulin to control their blood sugar.

Some people have diabetes and they can't have sugar because they don't have enough insulin to digest it so they give themselves injections of insulin. Hoped that helped!;)

Can you get so many insulin injections that your Diabetes is cured?

No. Diabetes is not cured by using insulin injections. You are giving yourself insulin injections because your body cannot produce enough insulin itself; therefore, if you were not to take the insulin injections you would have further detrimental complications. Once your body stops making insulin, it never "starts" making it again.

Does type 1 diabetes use a hormone called insulin?

No, people who have type 1 diabetes (like me myself) do not produce insulin. Yet their may still produce insulin but too little to be enough to not take it. As you get more experienced with diabetes your doctor may tell you that your body still produces insulin but not enough to take it alone with no help( this is the HONEYMOON Stage). You have to take it by syringe, shot, or by a pump. People who have type 2 diabetes, their pancreas still produce insulin but maybe their bodies do not absorb it too well.

Why do some diabetics take medication orally?

Oral diabetic medicine is not insulin. Instead, it acts on the body's cells and helps them to use the insulin better. Many diabetics also inject insulin because their pancreas does not produce enough any longer.

Which hormone deficiency causes diabetes?

Diabetes mellitus is caused by a lack of a hormone. This hormone is insulin. Insulin is required for the body's cells to take in glucose. Insulin helps transport glucose into the cell across the cell membrane. Glucose is what the cell uses to make energy to run itself.

What food contain insulin?

No food contains insulin. Insulin is an hormone that is produced within the body. Diabetics that need to take insulin for their condition have to take it via injection.
