You shouldn't take those 2 medications together as long as they contain the same ingredients. You'll get a dangerous dosage. The "Nyquil" has an antihistaminic drug to cause drowsiness and help sleeping.
NyQuil contains per dose:
500 mg of acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol)
15 mg dextromethorphan (i.e. cough suppressant)
6.25 mg doxylamine succinate (antihistamine, sleeping drug)
DayQuil contains per dose:
325 mg acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol)
10 mg dextromethorphan (cough supressant)
5 mg phenylephrine (decongestant)
Let's say you took one dose of each, then you would have taken:
825 mg of Tylenol (like taking 3-4 Tylenol pills)
25 mg of cough suppressant (like taking 2-3 pills)
6.25 mg antihistamine
5 mg decongestant
In other words, the main thing would be some liver damage from excess intake of Tylenol (acetaminophen), though you wouldn't necessarily know it. Symptoms of a Tylenol overdose include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, sweating, seizures, confusion, and an irregular heartbeat.
If you were to take more than one dose of either drug or in combination, you might run the risk of a true overdose resulting in liver or kidney damage, cardiovascular damage, or even death.
There is no immediate danger and is perfectly reasonable if one dose is insufficient. It is not recommended to excede two doses at once though. (If your dayquil contains phenylphrine consider asking for dayquil with pseudoephedrine which is probably kept in the pharmacy, it is much more effective but is kept off the floor due to its use in creating methamphetamines).
This doesn't sound good. You shouldn't mix these, first of all. Second, four what? Pills? If it's pills, then I'm guessing the regular dosage is 2 pills, so you've essentially tripled the regular dosage. You should probably contact the Poison Control Hotline and possibly 911 as soon as possible.
tylenol pm and nyquil are the same medicine just different names
Dayquil and Nyquil have several of the same ingredients. Taking both of them together would cause an over-dose of the common ingredients.
You could possibly get an overdose
no
Can you take Nyquil and Darvocet together
can I take Claritin and Nyquil together
can you take Afrin and NyQuil together
lt may make you tired, or it may cause unpleasant side effects. NyQuil has two active medications. The NyQuil combination is not good for anyone who has restless leg syndrome, and/or is taking multiple medications. Ask your pharmacist for advice if you need help sleeping.
Yes it can indeed do so. When you mix Nyquil plus Tylenol Ibuprofen or aspirin you can cause an upset stomach. You can also cause a headache believe it or not.
Can you take Nyquil and Darvocet together
No, NyQuil contains alcohol. It is not recommended.
It's the amount of Tylenol that you have to be careful with. So do not exceed the recommended dosage for your weight of acetaminophen. It will harm your liver ! I am not a medical person, but I would not give more than two pills of the Tylenol to my adult children and if NyQuil had ANY acetaminophen in it I would not double the dose.
Nyquil contains Tylenol plus a cough suppressant and doxylamine, an antihistamine. Since Allegra is also an antihistamine, these would overlap in indication. Pharmacists prefer taking individual products so as to avoid interactions and duplications of ingredients, so try taking plain Tylenol and Robitussin DM with the Allegra and skip the Nyquil.
"nyquil does help with fevers but also take some Acetaminophen and ibforen if u can together next thing in the morning the fevers gone if its not then it s a huge problem and u should see a doctor" Never take Tylenol (acetaminophen) with Nyquil! Nyquil contains acetaminophen. This would lead to overdose and liver damage.
