In science change is nothing but the transfer of a matter or mixtures of matters from one state to another. Here the physical 'state' is not a matter, it may change or not. Permanent change of a matter is also a change of matter which wont regain its previous state. Burned paper is an example for permanent change and vapourisation of water is a temporary change. we can classify the changes(either physical or chemical) according to the changes whether it is permanent or temporary.

A physical change is to do with temperature and how things react to it, e.g freezing, melting, or cooking. A physical change can usually turned back, e.g if you freeze water it will turn to ice but you can turn it back to water by melting it. Chemical changes can't be turned back (usually). Also, the result of chemical changes is the making of a new substance, like if you add teabags to water it will turn in to tea (almost) and you can't turn it back to water. but a physical change keeps the same substance, like if you cook chips they are still chips, even though a physical change has occurred.

permanent changes stay permanently and called as chemical changes. Temperory changes doesn't stay permanently, it's temporary and it is called as physically changes.
