Here are some notes on the last mission on GTA: San Andreas, which may be of help:

"END OF THE LINE"

The best way to do the first part of this final mission is to really take your time, as there is no time limit on the way up. Make CJ stealthy and creep up the stairs and through each level a bit at a time, and have your weapon of choice ready constantly. There are gunmen all over the place in the building, so CJ needs to look around constantly. On the way back down, don't panic, even though there is a timer, just keep a cool head, using the fire extinguisher as instructed, and you will get CJ out. If you use the night goggles provided, you can see where there is fire and where there is an escape route. Once he is clear of the building, the next part will test your driving skill and later your shooting skill.

To recap:

1. Make your up way through the building, taking out the gunmen as you go, until you find Big Smoke and take him out.

2. Find your way back down through the building, fighting the fire that has started where necessary with the fire extinguisher, using the night goggles where needed to see where the fire is burning and where there is an escape route. CJ must look out for for more gunmen on the way down. There will be plenty more of them. Try to find them first before going forward through the fire, so that CJ is not under fire as he negotiates the difficult route.

3. Once clear of the building, CJ will have to chase Tenpenny, who has high-jacked a fire engine with Sweet clinging on the back. CJ must rescue Sweet before he falls. Keep your eye on the fire engine during the chase that follows, until you are in a position to drive under Sweet at the right time. (You will be prompted to do this after the chase through Ganton).

4. With Sweet now driving the car, CJ must shoot at the cars chasing them until they get to the finale with Tenpenny on the fire engine on the bridge near CJ's house.

Help Notes: You will find that armour and weapons throughout the building will re-spawn to refresh CJ's protection on the way down. There are also life hearts around too. If by any chance you complete the first part of the mission and get clear of the building, but fail the last part and don't rescue Sweet, it is worth saving the game, because you will save the first part of this mission. When you retry, you will find that you will go straight into the car chase.
