On August 6, 1945 Hiroshima was the primary target cityof the Little Boy enriched uranium atomic bomb and the bomb was dropped there. On August 9, 1945 Kokura was the primary target city of the Fatman plutonium atomic bomb, however due to heavy smoke cover from a nearby city that had been firebombed the night before it was not possible for the bombardier to identify the aim point and it was decided to proceed to the secondary target. On August 9, 1945 Nagasaki was the secondary target cityof the Fatman plutonium atomic bomb and the bomb was dropped there, despite heavy cloud cover making it difficult for the bombardier to identify the aim point (as it was the bombardier identified the wrong point, resulting in the Fatman being dropped about 1.9 miles from the planned aim point). What are the arguments against the bomb being dropped on Hiroshima?

1. 1. Non-combatants in Hiroshima and Nagasaki paid a horrific price in lives and poor long-term health. 2. Although Hiroshima and Nagasaki are viable cities today, the environmental damage was significant (e.g. radiation, fallout, and black rain). 3. The dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was an inhumane act of cruelty and murder to over a hundred thousand Japanese, and the twenty-three American prisoners of war that were being held in Hiroshima at the time the bomb was dropped.

Did the Japanese army take stop civilians at the bombings of Hiroshima?

Let's begin with the fact that there were six civilians in Hiroshima to every soldier on the day Little boy was dropped. Hiroshima contained the 2nd Army Headquarters, which commanded the defense of all of southern Japan. Most civilians lived in houses with tile roof unlike troops living in concrete buildings. After the bomb was dropped, burned civilians began running out of the city with no troops to take actions what so ever. Most of them died some days after being poisoned with the fallout.
