When he applied himself, Marc Antony had strong leadership skills. He was a cavalry commander from a young age and had the "people skills" that were necessary in politics. He proved his diplomatic abilities after Caesar's assassination in brokering a compromise of sorts with the Optimates and the Populares. Although not perfect from the viewpoint of both political factions, it was the best that could be done under the circumstances. He was also very persuasive in his public speaking as it was said that he was a natural orator perhaps inheriting the skill from his grandfather who was a famous lawyer.
