Moopanar originate form India and there are spread across Tanjore, Ariyalur and peramblur district of tamilnadu. there main occupation is farming but now they are spread across globe. Before independence of india some moopanar's migrated to South Africa for construction of railway line and they are settled there.
Moopanars are part of a Tamil speaking community known as Parkavakulam. The Parkavakulam community uses 3 different surnames. Udayar, Moopanar and Nainar.
