Hi, The radio fuse is a yellow 20A fuse that is also the cig lighter in the box in the car. Steve H.
On a 96, there is a fuse panel on the right side of the dash, against the right door.
locate the fuse box and remove the cover. On the inside of the cover there should be a diagram of the fuse placement.. Remove the radio fuse and replace with the same proper size.
It is the last fuse on the right side( i looked it up in the owners manual , i got a 98 polo but it will probally be the same )it is a 10 ampere fuse.
On a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis : The fuse panel is under the dash , to the left of the steering wheel column ( it has a cover on it ) Also , the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) is located in the engine compartment by the battery
From the 1994 Ford Econoline Owners Guide #8 radio memory, 15 amp fuse. #11 radio and clock, 15 amp fuse. #14 power windows, 20 amp circuit breaker.
Did you also check the in-line fuse between the stereo and the power supply? There is actually two fuses...one in the normal fuse panel and one behind the radio...you have to pull the radio to get to it. regards, ron
According to the drawing in the 1996 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : The fuse panel is under the dash by the brake pedal Also , the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) is located in the front of the engine compartment , near the battery
As of February 12 , 2013 you can still view the 1996 Mercury Cougar owners manual online at : www . motorcraft service . com ( no spaces ) Click on Owner Guides ( the fuse section starts on page 269 )
if it is an after market deck you must have the dash wires not hooked up behind the deck, and for the fuse replace it....
