well... when a female and a male mantis mate and are "done" IF the female is like starving( only when starving) she actually will eat her mate. the male will not eat the female unless also starving but that is more unlikely then a female eating a male.

if you keep two mantis's in one cage or habitat, one might eat the other.

Despite this common misconception, the female does not often eat the male. Since mantises are carnivorous, the female may eat the male if he is unfortunate enough to be near her when she is hungry and can't find any other food.

A female mantis will kill her male mate in order to consume its body for a nutrition boost for her eggs. Sometimes the male gets away if he's lucky.

They have difficulty in seeing any other insect as anything other than food.
