Many food-bourne illnesses start with unwashed hands preparing the food. You can cause serious illness and even death through the contamination of food with fecal matter left on your hands after using the bathroom. Always wash thoroughly with hot water and soap before preparing any food.

One reason is germs......they spread quickly and can make you sick. Another one is school or work or whatever...do you think people would want to talk to a person that has dirt all over there hands....probally not. Another reason is touching....do you really think your family and friends want to hold dirty hands.....im guessing no! And you shold really wash your hands unless you want to get sick and die

How long should you wash hands before cooking?

Hand washing is the best way to prevent germs from spreading. Think of how many things you do with your hands ... it's a lot! While cooking food will remove many germs you are touching the food after it has been cooked. If you have not washed your hands before preparing a meal, germs can be transfered to your cutting board, knives, counter, plates and food. By handwashing before cooking, it prevents germs from hands being transfered to mouths and into your body.
